As part of our mission to increase learning internationally, ALTS provides world class workshops on topics pertaining to assessment and the science of learning. Our famous five foundational series begins with “The Brain and Learning” (Day 1) and continues with “Connecting the curriculum, instruction and assessment to increase learning” (Day 2). On Day 2 participants work with their own curriculum documents. Then, on Day 3, we introduce the concepts of validity, reliability and equity within the context of test construction, clearly demonstrating how to create a test blueprint. Next, during Day 4, participants learn how to write effective questions of a variety of types including multiple choice and constructed response with appropriate scoring guides. The foundational series ends with Day 5 devoted to developing custom rubrics and checklists for scoring essays, projects, portfolios and performances.
